Holistic care is a new approach to good health that is relatively popular today. It is the real answer to health care for the present as well as the future. Everyone recognizes the disadvantages of focusing solely on particular organs such as the skin, teeth, stomach, liver, kidneys, bones, blood, or brain — an approach that will most definitely not lead to perfect health because diseases cannot be completely cured in this way. At times, the focus is on only one organ without taking in consideration the mind, other organs, and other factors or aspects.

This brings about many side effects. The father of Thailand’s modern medicine, Prince Mahidol Adulyadej, during an opening address to a group of medical students in 1928 once said, “I don’t want you to be only a doctor. But I also want you to be a man.” He wants medical doctors to not only treat the disease, but to care for the health of the whole patient. A human being consists of the mind, the body, the spirit and society. Addressing all of these factors is the absolute answer to health care and therapy. In holistic medicine, it is essential to blend modern western medical technologies with the beauty and depth of eastern medicine to make it well-suited to individuals. The therapy should not only focus on diseases, while overlooking other factors.

Today, holistic medicine is applied on 4 simple levels.

  1. Structural level: This includes tissues and all tangible structures on which procedures, such as surgery, stitching and organ planting, can be performed.
  2. Molecular and cellular levels: This includes providing remedies such as nutrients, medi-cines, hormones, minerals, oxygen, vitamins, protein, fragrance, and such like, to supplement or trigger reactions on the molecular level inside cells; add what the body lacks by supplementing items that help cells to function better.
  3. Energy level: This is somewhat more difficult to perceive or feel, but with the use of modern tools, is measurable. The remedies on this level have existed for over five thousand years. They include traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, therapeutic massage, electro-magnetic stimulation, cold laser treatment and homeopathy.
  4. Information level: This directly relates to the mind and spirit. It is about the way in which we perceive, process and manage the information we receive, whether positively or negatively. It is about mental and spiritual training, meditation and attaining an understanding of life philosophy. It can be adapted to solve the full range of life problems. Holistic medicine includes the analysis and interpretation of laboratory results, blood tests, stool and urine tests, genetic level tests, and cellular energy level test in various organs; and encompasses a comprehensive range of remedies that includes diet, music, sport, meditation, mental training, mantra, hypnotherapy, homeopathy, ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine, traditional Thai medicine, modern medicine, surgery, chemotherapy, herbal therapy, oral medicine, inhalant medicine, injection, massage therapy, aromatherapy, hydrotherapy, crystal & stone therapy, and other such fields of treatment.
